Raymond “Ray” Clark

Raymond Aloysius Clark, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Rochester, MN.

He was born on June 26, 1943, in La Crosse, WI to Raymond Aloysius Clark, Sr. and Alice Carter Clark. He grew up in La Crosse and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1961. He later lived in Madison, WI, then in Colorado Springs, CO, before moving to Rochester, in 1979, where he remained for the rest of his life.

In 1979, upon moving to Rochester, he became Chief Systems Operator at Rochester Public Utilities, a position he held with dedication and pride until his retirement in 2006.

In 1980, he married Dawn Marie Harbort. He was a devoted father to Michelle Louise Clark of Rochester, MN; Sheila Ann Clark of Houston, TX; Jennifer Lee Wren of Houston, TX; and Eileen Clark (Nicholas) Williams of League City, TX. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Julius Pablo (Cal) Correa, Sabrina Marie Wren, Adele Louise Wren, and Lily Veronique Tankoua. He is survived by his siblings: Phoebe (Bill) Kitzke, Kyran (Naomi) Clark, Alice Clark, Jim Clark, Eileen (Ed) Przytarski and Mike (Cheryl) Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved stepfather, John Becker; and his brothers, Edward Clark and John Clark.

Raymond loved the outdoors. He hunted deer, turkey, goose, and pheasant, though for him hunting was less about the harvest and more about the quiet of the woods and the beauty of nature. He enjoyed playing basketball, where he met his lifelong friend Matt Flynn of Stewartville, MN. He also loved golf — and was known to express his strong feelings about the game while playing it. He had a particular fondness for playing cards, especially cribbage.

He dearly loved his dogs and could often be found walking them through the neighborhood, stopping to talk with neighbors along the way. Raymond was known for taking care of his family and friends and helping wherever he could. His steady presence, practical support, and loyalty will be remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1-5pm at Willow Creek Golf Course, 1700 48th Street SW, Rochester.

  5. Ray was an extraordinary man, intelligent, extremely funny, with a rare penchant for irony. He was always upbeat, and always willing to help with anything. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He pulled me from the fire more than once, for which I am eternally grateful! Thank you for being you, Ray. Love, Alice

I met Ray only once at the Chateau de Coulaine family reunion many years ago
and it was a pleasure to be in his company.
