Odelia Lynn (Shadow) Christenson, 67, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St Marys Campus.
Odie was born on May 16, 1959 to Robert Shadow and Ruth (Balzum) Shadow in Rochester, MN. She grew up in Dodge Center spending lots of time on her grandparents farm and riding horses. She was always known for being the wild tomboy of the family. After graduating from Dodge Center high school, she spent her life raising her three sons. She moved her family to Hammond, MN where she became part owner of the Hammond Bar and worked/ retired as an In-Home Care Supervisor. She met the love of her life Joey Hoffman and cherished her big blended family. She then moved to Plainview, MN after his death to enjoy her final years close to family and friends.
She loved spending time with friends and family, watching the Packers beat the Vikings and enjoying a cold Miller Lite, and day trips with her best friend John.
Odie is survived by her children, Jason Shadow, Robert Johnson, and Aaron Johnson (Cassie Walker); step-children, Jason Hoffman, Heather (Hoffman) Berg, Jenny Hoffman, Jim Hoffman; siblings, Brenda, David, and Mona; grandchildren, Callie Jo, Jeremy, Jasmine, Kyle, Matt, AJ, Hunter, Adley, and Ellenore; and 3 great grandchildren.
Odie was preceded in death by her father and mother; life partner, Joey; chosen son, Marty; brother, Grant; and many close friends.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Plainview American Legion, 215 3rd Street SW, Plainview, MN and Celebration of Life will follow at 6pm at TJ’s Bar, 218 W. Broadway, Plainview, MN.

Condolences from the depth on my soul. My mom always called her my namesake. Odie wouldn’t let her name me Odelia, she didn’t want people calling my Odie, so I got Lynn. She was one of the few friends of my mothers to always be there. She will be deeply missed. I bet Odie and my mom are telling stories around the great campfire in the sky.
