Margo Bremer

Margo Ann Bremer, 85, passed away on August 9, 2024 at Evergreen Place Assisted Living in Pine Island surrounded by family.

She was born May 1, 1939 to Claus H. and Whynette L. (Reitmann) Wilshusen, in Red Wing, MN. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1957 and from Winona State College in 1959, receiving training in secretarial and office skills.

On May 26, 1962 she married Dale Bremer of Goodhue, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Wing. The couple lived in rural Goodhue/Zumbrota until 1967 when they built a home in rural Zumbrota, began jobs, part-time farming and started a family.

Family was always very important to Margo. She loved planning all kinds of fun family activities and vacations, some of which were quite adventurous! She was a stay-at-home mom and later also worked various part-time jobs, the last of which was as a typist for the Zumbrota News Record.

Margo had a deep passion and love for the Lord. She enjoyed volunteering with various ministries including mentoring a couple of young girls. Her love and passion for people has impacted many lives. She was always lifting people up in prayer and had a huge heart for giving.

Margo also had a great love for the outdoors (God’s garden) and enjoyed all aspects of outdoor life – work or play. Over the years, she raised flowers inside and outside, gardened, helped raise sheep and horses, and enjoyed camping, canoeing, hiking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding.

In 2011, Dale and Margo sold the farm and moved to the home of their son and daughter-in-law where they continued to enjoy country life including gardening, driving tractor and helping with their horses. In 2022, they moved to Evergreen Place in Pine Island, MN.

Margo is survived by her husband, Dale; son, Jeff (Julie) Bremer; daughter, Wendy Bremer; and sister, Kay Wilshusen. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Worship Celebration Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 24 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Zumbrota, with a lunch to follow. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-11am.

Special thank you to Heartland Hospice and Evergreen Assisted Living for their kindness and care.
