Linda Kinneman

Linda Kinneman of Riceville, IA, passed away at age 71, on February 10, 2024, with her family by her side at Methodist Hospital. She fought a courageous battle with peritoneal cancer, which is a relatively rare cancer that develops in the lining of the abdomen and has a life expectancy of about one year. Linda survived over three years, and it was hard to tell how sick she actually was. It was her wish to donate her body for research, hoping to aid others affected by this disease.

Linda Kay Ring was born April 14, 1952, to Clarence and Edith (Denny) Ring in Riceville. She graduated from Riceville Community School in 1970 and immediately moved to Waukegan, IL, to live with her older sister, Beverly. Later that year, Linda returned to Riceville and married Russell Fritcher. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Shannon, Shawn, Heidi, and Holli.

In 1984, Linda married Larry Kinneman. Linda and Larry were blessed with another child, Lacey.

Linda was a people person whose passions were her family, spending time with friends, and making new friends. Her biggest life decisions were driven by the needs of her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers, traveling, and politics. She had an artistic soul and was a master with a paintbrush in her hand. Highlights of her work life included working at Andy’s Mini Mart, running a painting business with her close friend, enjoying her flower shop, and working in the railroad industry with her husband, Larry.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Edith, and her siblings, Richard Jones, Patricia (Jones) Picklemann, and Thomas Jones.

She is survived by her children Shannon (Jodi) of Stewartville, MN; Shawn (Emily) of St. Charles, MN; Heidi (Casey) Christensen of Slater, IA; Holli (Derek) Staley of Las Vegas, NV; Lacey Kinneman of Riceville, IA; thirteen grandchildren (Jadyn, Izak, Cecilia, Easton, Nora, Gabriel, August, Henry, Mya, Izzaraeh, Louis, Bridget, and Jazmine); her sister Beverly (Jones) Valencic of Waukegan, IL, and brother William (Cathy) Ring of Manly, IA.

Linda will be remembered for her kind heart, resilience, and passion for life.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at the 10th Hole in Riceville, IA, on April 13, 2024, from 2-4 pm.
