Jay Alan Weitzel passed away on April 14th 2026 at his childhood home on Pillsbury ave into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus.
Jay was born on June 19th 1963 in Waterloo, Iowa to parents Robert and Beverly Weitzel.
Jay graduated from the Albert Lea senior high school in 1981.
Jay was a member of the Albert Lea Church of Christ and gave himself to the Lord through baptism on November 23rd, 1996 by T. Wayne Douglas after his maternal grandmother’s funeral service.
After Jay’s graduation he set out on his journey in life that took him to many places. Jay became a very talented carpenter and craftsman as his profession along with many other attributes he had acquired.
This craft lead him to employment with Hayfield windows, St. Mary’s school, Mapleton school,Monte Kroeze co. and the Hill Airforce base in Utah that he loved the most and utilized all of his given talents.
Jay shared his life with his partner Carole Wilson for over 35 years until her death in 2023. Together they shared a love for their cherished dogs including Cody, Sugar, Rastus, Casey,Tye and Brandy that they held throughout the years. Jay & Carole shared their Samoyed white dog “Missy” together.
“Missy” accompanied Jay everywhere he went and was his greatest companion.
Jay also had a love for antiques and refinishing older furniture. Jay also spent his time remodeling every home in which he lived..leaving them all in outstanding condition. This was a great sense of pride and accomplishment for Jay through the years.
Jay was an adventurist at heart… he loved going on road trips with his mother and siblings and after visiting the state of Utah he decided to uproot himself there and purchase a home near his sister Lori.
There he enjoyed the warmer weather and his job at the Hill Air force base.
After the loss of Carole, Jay moved and bought a house in the quaint and peaceful town of Trimont and Jay spent his last 1 ½ years remodeling his new home where he also planted trees along the property where Missy frolicked in the yard.
Jay will be sadly missed by his loyal dog “Missy” in whom he loved.
