George Lane Jr.

George Arthur Lane Jr., age 60, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Marys Campus surrounded by family. He fought an 11-year illness with his family by his side. Unfortunately, his body didn’t match his strong spirit.

George was born August 6, 1960 in Austin, MN to George and Carol (Langemo) Lane Sr. He lived and graduated from West Concord High School in 1979. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. George married the love of his life, Lisa Luehmann on November 23, 2014 in Rochester and enjoyed making her happy.

George was an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed his job, fishing camping and anything outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and making everybody laugh. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

George is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Krista Lane of Rochester, MN, Kassi Lane of Kasson, MN, Korrie Lane of West Concord, MN, Kelly Bittner of Plainview, MN, Nathan Irish of Rochester, MN, Megan Irish of Rochester, MN; siblings, Pat Elit of Austin, MN, Cindy Hartley of Rochester, MN; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his father, George Lane Sr.; mother, Carol Langemo; and sister, Claire Adams.

Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Christ Community Church (by Walmart North), 4400 55th St NW, Rochester, MN.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am. A gathering will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm at a Rochester park, weather permitting, with more details to follow.

Memorials may be given to Lisa Lane, 1104 – 1st Avenue SE, Rochester, MN  55904.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff at the Northwest Clinic and Mayo Clinic for their wonderful care of George.

  1. I am a proud cousin of George, I have many memories of our time together. I was scared of the gentle giant back in 1986, but now in 2021 I love this man deeply. I will miss his tight hugs and his tears. May he rest in peace, until we meet again Cuz.

  3. I’m sorry for your loss, he was a class mate, he nice in High School, and after graduation you loose tough with many of your class mate, I didn’t know he lived in Rochester, my thoughts and prayers to you , and your family

  4. My sincere sympathies to George’s family. I’ve been a friend & roommate of Cindys while @ AFLBS many years ago. I remember going 2 Cindy’s home one weekend and got to meet her wonderful family. God Bless everyone. PTL George is resting in peace.
