Alice Rascon

 

Alice Rascon passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Sunday February 25, 2024. She spent her last few days surrounded by those who loved her deeply.

Alice was born on March 13, 1959, in Phoenix, AZ. During her youth, she had lived in Arizona and California with her mother, Julia and her five siblings. In her adulthood, she resided in Phoenix, AZ and had her two daughters, Kristy and Vannassa. In 1996, she moved to Minnesota and shortly after, she began working at Hormel Foods located in Austin, MN. During her time at Hormel, she made many friends. No matter where you went with her in Austin, she always knew someone somewhere. After 20+ years of working at Hormel, she retired in 2021.

Alice was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. She always wore her apparel and never missed a game. She loved to read scary/mystery books, watch true crime tv shows and her telenovela reels on Facebook. Her favorite past-time by far, was spending time with her family and friends. She would binge watch scary movies with her grandchildren or have a nice cold beer with her friends. Alice was such a jokester. She loved cracking a joke and she loved to laugh. Her smile and laugh were so infectious, you couldn’t help but laugh with her. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Alice lived her life for her family. She treasured spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Kristy Minear and Vannassa Rascon; and grandchildren Gabriel Minear, Angelina (Keith) Grzybowski, and Michael Minear, Michael Olivas, Izaiah Olivas, Lily Olivas, and Phoenix Loving; and her great-grandchild Elias Grzybowski.

Alice also treasured spending time with her extended family. She will be deeply missed by her brother Robert Rascon; sister Yolanda Rascon; niece Julie (Jacob) Ramirez; nephews Robert Rascon Jr., Marlo Oroczo, and Mario Rodriguez.

Welcoming Alice to her eternal home is her parents, Jose and Julia Rascon; brothers Joe and Daniel Rascon; and her sister Geneva Rascon.

In Minnesota, a Celebration of Life will be held on March 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Salon Los Arbos located at 429 10th St. NE, Austin, MN 55912. The details and location for Alice’s Celebration of Life in Arizona are in the process of being finalized.

  3. When I met you in 1973 little did I know that in the future you would become my family giving my brother Jesse a beautiful daughter Kristy and just stayed in our family all these years you been a very good sister-Inlaw and a good friend. Until we meet again. leaving you with a big hug

  7. I knew Alice for the the few years that I worked at Hormel and we became good friends, meeting each day and talking about the books we were each reading.

    2019 I went on a 4 week snowboarding vacation and she asked I bring her shot glasses back from each ski area I visited.

    A week before I was due home she asked if I was having fun and said I was but it was a lonely trip by myself and asked if she knew anyone I could share my travels with.

    She gave me a name and number and 5 years later I am still with this amazing woman. All due to Alice.

    I am sorry for your family’s loss. I miss the deep dive into books with her and her laugh.
