Leatrice (Lee) Maureen Halleen, 95, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2021. She was born on September 18, 1925 in Nebraska City, NE.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2001. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Doug (Laura), Greg (Kim) and Richard (Cindi) as well as her grandchildren, Chelsea, Sam, Alex, Chris, Rachel, Miriam, Anna and nine great grandchildren.
Lee had a life long love of words. She so enjoyed doing her daily crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, reading the newspaper and any book that piqued her interest. Her other hobbies included a large doll collection and art projects.
Earlier in life Lee was instrumental in starting the Omaha Ostomy Association. She stayed active in it for many years. She wrote the monthly newsletter, visited those who were hospitalized, assisted at meetings and offered advice and encouragement to others.
She had a strong faith and actively participated in church life at First Covenant, Omaha, NE. One avenue of expressing her faith was in the writing of her journey, her questions and her faith through poetry and prose.
She lived a long and fulfilling life. We are grateful to have been a part of it.
The family wants to thank all of the caregivers at Madonna Meadows and Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN as well as Seasons Hospice of Rochester.
