Wendy LaCasse (Grubbs), age 65, of Pine Island, went to be with her Lord on January 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father Calvin. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Raymond; sons Jeremy and Calvin; mother Marilyn; brothers Randy (Bonnie), Brian (Jo Anne) and Gregg; 5 nieces and nephews; 8 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Wendy was born to Calvin and Marilyn Grubbs on March 19, 1959. Wendy met Ray in Centerville MN on August 1, 1980. Both Wendy and Ray accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in 1984. Ray and Wendy were married on September 24, 1984, and resided in Forest Lake. They moved to Pine Island in 1988 after Ray accepted a job at IBM Rochester.
Wendy had a passion for building collections. She would seldom pass up a garage sale or a thrift store. The theme of what she collected varied through the years (cookie jars, banks, Avon bottles, monopoly games, stamps). Whatever she pursued, she did it “full throttle” with a pinch of reckless abandon. Wendy’s love language was touch. She enjoyed her sons and always put them first. She also enjoyed traveling and looked forward to going to the Minnesota State Fair every year. One of Ray and Wendy’s first dates, in 1980, was to the state fair. They seldom missed a year of the fair since then.
A visitation for Wendy will begin at 10 am with the funeral service at 11 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Cornerstone Baptist Church – 857 Rolling View LN SE in Pine Island. Pastor Tim Graham will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Columbus, MN at a later date. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org).
