Vonnie Rae (Kyllo) Torkelson, diagnosed with dementia at age 62, died peacefully on Friday July 12, 2024 at Madonna Meadows Memory Care in Rochester MN. She was 69 years old.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Zumbrota MN on Saturday August 3rd 2024 with 10 am visitation and 11 am service.
Vonnie was born on June 27th, 1955 to Doris and Maurice Kyllo in Zumbrota, MN. Vonnie graduated Zumbrota High School and attended Free Lutheran Bible College in Plymouth MN for 2 years. She was married to Daniel L. Torkelson in September 1976 and together they had 3 children- Tiffany (Bryan) Betcher, Titus (Molly) Torkelson and Aviana Torkelson. She was later divorced in 1999. Vonnie was a homemaker and took on part time housekeeping jobs and later in life massage therapy. Vonnie was a Christian who loved the Lord and would participate in multiple church functions/groups. She enjoyed cooking and baking, visiting family and friends, sewing, travel, reading, painting, gardening and being outdoors. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do that she set her mind to.
She is survived by her children, 3 grandchildren Tatiana, Cheyana and Ava Torkelson (of Titus/Molly Torkelson), 3 sisters- Suzette (Steve) Hinrichs, Shelley (Rob) Downer and Sherri Kyllo, and 1 brother Dean Kyllo. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, aunts and uncles. She was loved and her memories will live on with all of us.
