Scott Allen Chestnut, 51, of Mazeppa, MN, died June 4, 2020 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer at Mayo Clinic Methodist Campus.
Scott was born on October 11, 1968 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester to Steven and Mary (Nelson) Chestnut. He received his GED in 1987. He was his mother’s care provider the last year and half and worked as a Lumper at a moving company. He enjoyed family gatherings and bowling. He loved to spend time with family. His sister, Holly, considered him her protector. Scott will be remembered as a man of strong will, great sense of humor, a hard worker and family was important to him. A beloved son of Mary Nelson. Brother, Brian and stepsister, Cheryl have many memories of fun times growing up on hobby farms with Scott. Although we fought amongst ourselves, we’ve all grown to respect and love one another.
Scott is survived by his siblings, Brian Chestnut of Rochester, Holly (Josh) Larson of Zumbrota, MN. and Cheryl (Mark) Hansen of Princeton, MN.; nieces and nephews, Remy (Madalyn) Zinser-Watson of Zumbrota, MN. Abigail Mielke of Zumbrota, MN. Lydia Larson of Zumbrota, MN. Daniel (Amanda) Johnson of Duluth, MN. Robert Johnson of Princeton, MN. and John Jedneak of Conway, AR; great nieces, Kayla Johnson of Duluth, MN. and Clara Johnson of Duluth, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Steven Chestnut and Mary Nelson.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1549 East Avenue, Zumbrota, MN.
