Rosa Kay Jensen, age 76, died on Wednesday, November 25th at Edenbrook nursing home in Rochester, Minnesota after a long illness with Parkinson’s.
Rosa was born in Festina, Iowa on April 12, 1944 to Hubert and Irma (Moellers) Buchheit. She married Darrell F. Jensen on August 20, 1966 and in 1968, they welcomed their son Daniel. They were married for 23 years.
Rosa loved to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and her special friend Skip (Gerald) Knoll. Rosa and Skip especially loved to travel and dance to country music. Rosa grew up on the family farm in Iowa, and shortly after high school graduation in 1962, accepted a job at St. Marys hospital.
Rosa spent many years working at the Greenhouse Restaurant in the Kahler Hotel where she was loved by co-workers and guests alike. Rosa created numerous memories for her family through hosting Easter and Christmas celebrations. She loved collecting Angels, salt and pepper shakers, and Coca Cola memorabilia. Each year Rosa grew a beautiful garden including roses, wild daisies and peonies.
Survivors include her special friend of 21 years, Skip (Gerald) Knoll; her son Daniel (Christine) Jensen; three grandchildren, Donovan (Charleston, SC.), Timothy (Winona) and Claudia; sister-in-law Cathy Buchheit of Cold Spring, MN; many beloved nieces and nephews. Rosa is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gilbert “Gil” Buchheit.
In Memory of Rosa Kay Jensen a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2021 at Grand View Memorial Gardens, 1300 Marion Rd SE, Rochester, Minnesota.

A Poem for Mother and Grandmother

Mother, you were just a girl,
So many years ago.
You had your loves and had your dreams,
You watched us come and go.
You watched us make the same mistakes,
That you had made before,
But that just made you hold us tight,
And love us all the more.
We haven’t always thought about
The things that you have seen.
To us you’ve just been ‘Mother’,
No thought of who you’ve been.
But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we’re just glad we knew you,
As Mother, Grandmother and Friend.
We are so grateful to have been blessed with knowing Rosa and celebrating many family holiday traditions and events with her. We will always remember the tender moments while singing Christmas carols at the piano. Thank you Rosa for being such an important part of our family’s life.
