Melissa Suzanne Harwick 29, died peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN. Melissa was a 29 year liver transplant survivor.
Melissa was born on October 28, 1990 in Rochester, MN to Bill and Liz (Grant) Harwick and on her brother Joseph’s 3rd birthday. She grew up in Rochester, active in Brownies, Youth Cheerleading, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church activities. She graduated from Century High School in 2009, enjoying singing in choir and musicals. After graduating, Melissa attended RCTC, meeting the love of her life, Clay Kopp. Together they welcomed a son, Caleb. The young family lived in Rochester and Staples, MN, finally settling in Mankato, MN in 2014.
Melissa was an active member of New Creation World Outreach Church, and was a member of the choir. She enjoyed baking, sewing, word searches and bird feeder watching at her home, but mostly being Caleb’s mom.
Melissa is survived by her son, Caleb and life partner, Clayton Kopp, of Mankato, MN; her parents, Bill Harwick of Albert Lea, MN and Liz Harwick of Rochester, MN; siblings, Joseph Harwick and Kayla Harwick, both of Rochester, MN; Clay’s parents, John and Linda Kopp, of Staples, MN; maternal grandmother, Karen Grant; and paternal grandfather, Roger Harwick. She was loved by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Melissa was preceded in death by infant twin sisters; maternal grandfather, Lane; paternal grandmother, Charlotte; and cousin, Steven.
There will be a family graveside remembrance in Rochester, MN and a Celebration of Life service will be held on October 23, 2020, at 11am at New Creation World Outreach Church, 1124 North River Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for an Education Fund for Caleb Kopp. Watch for more information.

Melissa was a very special woman. She is loved and missed by many. She is in a place filled with love. God has a big hug, love ❤️ and compassion for Melissa. He will be there for her all the time. She is in warm and loving care. Love ❤️ and peace are sent your way. Love you lots.

I am so very sorry to all of you. Melissa and Mariah were good friends for many years. I always was warmed to see Melissas smile and to say Hi when you came in at the Charlton. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
