Lora Luhman

Lora Lee Luhman, 66 of Bellechester died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 14, 2025, following her fight against cancer. Lora was born on May 5, 1958, in Lake City to Gervase and Marjorie (Poncelet) Majerus. Lora married the love of her life, Jonathan in 1983. They had three beautiful daughters together. Lora is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jonathan, and their daughters, Melissa (Lee) Ledford of Goodhue, Danielle (Tyler) Wetteland of Hastings and Haley (Jeremiah) McCarthy of Balaton; and her parents, Gervase and Marjorie Majerus of Bellechester. Lora’s pride and joy was her 9 grandchildren, Addie, Easton, Paisley, Emerson, Finley, Nevaeh, Everett, Judah and Roman.

Lora was the oldest of 10 siblings and loved them dearly. She is survived by her sisters, Kris (Andy) Kehren of New Ulm, Steph (Dale) Simonson of Wanamingo, Angie Majerus and Chris Ball of Stillwater, and her brothers, Jerry Joe of Zumbro Falls, Stan (Nancy) of Mazeppa, Chuck (Lori) Majerus of Goodhue, Fritz Majerus of Zumbrota and Todd (Sherie) Majerus of Goodhue. Lora had tons of nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Lora lived in the Bellechester area her entire life. She was a well-known bartender for over 30 years. Most recently she worked for Jody and Gordy at the Bellechester Tavern. Jody and Gordy gave up the battle of getting Lora to wear shoes so you could often find Lora running around the bar barefoot. Lora took pride in bartending and missed her customers deeply. Lora also cleaned houses and had a special bond with the families that she cleaned for.

Lora will forever be known as the ‘garage sale queen.’ She never missed a sale and could spot a sign a mile away! Jonathan would not dare drive by. A short trip up north could take all day to return home stopping at every garage sale in sight.

Lora spent a lot of time with her grandkids riding side by side, playing cards and camping. Lora enjoyed spending time with her mother playing cards and gardening. She also enjoyed thrifting, running errands and finding the best deal!

Lora was an active member of the Bellechester Lion’s Club and St. Mary’s Church, always donating her time and helping out as she could.

Lora was preceded in death by her brother, Al Majerus; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st from 5-8PM at St. Mary’s Church in Bellechester. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11AM with visitation an hour before. A meal will follow at the Bellechester Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bellechester Lion’s Club in memory of Lora and the community she loved so much.
