Lela V. Kennedy, 95, of Pine Island, MN passed away Saturday December 27th, 2025 at Edenbrook Pine Haven Nursing Home.
Lela was born March 11th, 1930 to Herman and Martha (Timm) Zimmerman in rural Pine Island, Goodhue County where she also attended country school. She married Robert Kennedy in 1949 and together they had 9 children, later divorced in 1983. Lela worked several jobs in the area including 10 years as manager at the American Legion Club in Pine Island until she retired in 1992.
Lela enjoyed crafting and baking and was infamously known for her breads and jellies. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lela is survived by 1 daughter, Helen (Rick) Toutges of Byron MN, 3 sons; Karyl Ray (Trudi) Kennedy, Richard Kennedy and Tom Kennedy all of Pine Island MN. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 5 children and 1 grandchild.
A Spring 2026 date will be chosen and announced later for a celebration of life and burial.
