John M Archer, 89 of Pine Island passed away May 12, 2024, surrounded by family.
He attended Pine Island Schools and then worked as a farm laborer. He went to work at Pine Island Farmers Elevator, where he worked thirty plus years retiring as mill manager. October 1955, he married Delores Dunagan. He was a lifelong member of the Pine Island community, St Michaels Catholic Church and former chief of Pine Island Fire Dept,. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, gardening, canning, and making maple syrup.
He is survived by his wife Delores; six children: Steve (Roger Guenther), Debbie, Dan (Nancy), Kevin (Lorraine), Kathy (Scott Tweed), and James; son-in-law Joe Timm; 6 grandchildren: Katie Childrey, Megan (Jon) Zetzman, Krista (Phillip) Cervantes, Diane, Noelle, and Jillian; 6 great grandchildren: Mariah Childrey, Sarah & Matthew Zetzman, Elizabeth, Olive, & Eli Cervantes; and one great great grandson Vinny; 2 siblings Paul, and Elvira Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Arlene Timm, granddaughter Dianne Timm, grandson Chris Childrey, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral mass 12:30 PM Saturday May 18, 2024, St Michaels Catholic Church 451 5th St. SW Pine Island. Visitation 6-8 PM Friday May 17, 2024, at Rochester Cremation Services 1605 Civic Center Drive NW Rochester and again one hour prior to mass at St Michael Catholic church. Burial in Pine Island Cemetery.

Johnny was a friend to many, and I am grateful to be included in that special group. I will never forget the fun times shared over the last 40 years. My sympathy goes out to Delores, and the entire Archer family.

John and I had great times fishing together. He had a great sense of humor and would love to share stories. He will be missed by many. His family are in our prayers.
