John Curtis, 61, a lifelong resident of Rochester, MN, died of cancer Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Pine Haven Care Facility in Pine Island, MN. He had been ill for approximately 5 months.
John Curits was born in Rochester, MN on December 12, 1963 to the parentage of William Curtis and Ancille Fordham-Curtis. He was the 8th child born of 11 total children – Mike, Rick, Cindy, Bob, Jim, Gary, Jay, John, Lisa, Sallie, & Randy.
John received his education in the Rochester Public Schools and graduated from Mayo High School in 1983.
John was a Laborer as a Brick Tender for a total of 33 years for Surety Waterproofing, and a Floor Install, Sand & Coater for a total of 5 years for Curtis Custom Floors.
John’s hobbies were: creating handmade superhero costumes for Halloween and display, known by many as “The Costume Guy”. He enjoyed: trail riding dirt bike for fun and competition, playing pool, dancing, pull tabs, and sipping cognac brandy.
John was an active member of the Kato Cycle Club of Mankato, MN. Also a member of the Midwest Bible Baptist Church of Rochester, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Ann Curtis (Rochester, MN); 3 brothers, Mike (Rochester, MN), Rick (Lime Springs, IA), Gary (Abilene, TX); and a stillborn niece.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Midwest Bible Baptist Church, 5930 Bandle Road NW, Rochester, MN: Family & Friends Gathering will be at 1:00pm. Funeral Service will be at 1:30pm with Pastor Caleb Hanson officiating. Coffee, punch, and bars will be served before and after the service. A Graveside Service will be at 3:00pm at Calvary Cemetery, 500 11th Avenue NW, Rochester, MN.
