John “Jack” Kautz

 

John “Jack” Arthur Kautz, 94, died Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St Marys Campus with his children by his side.

John was born on May 30, 1930 to Arthur and Helen (Murray) Kautz in Rochester, MN. On September 26, 1947 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorable discharged as a corporal on September 3, 1951. Then he married Jeannette Kieffer on September 25, 1954. They had 6 children. They later divorced. He was a farmer and a construction foreman for many years. He also owned several businesses. He married Cecelia “Dee” Preibe in January of 1982. Dee died September 14, 2023.

Jack enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona, flipping houses, working with horses, the occasional trips to Treasure Island, and spending time with his family.

Jack is survived by his sons, Larry (Brenda) Kautz, Terry Kautz; daughters, Lynette (Rick) Bruske, Jodene (John) Olson; 2 brothers, Kenny Kautz, Richard (Jane) Kautz; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dee; infant daughter; son, Brian; daughter-in-law, Deborah; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.

A funeral liturgy at 1pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 30932 MN-60, West Albany Township, MN. A celebration of life will follow at the VFW in Zumbro Falls from 2-5pm. A private burial will be held in the Saint Clements Catholic Cemetery,  Hammond, MN.

The family would like to thank Green Prairie Assisted Living for the love and care they gave him for the past two years. Also, the St Marys staff that cared for him in his last days.

Jack will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
