Jason Finstad

 

Jason Scott Finstad, 42, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2024, at St Marys Hospital surrounded by his family.

Jason was born December 24, 1981, in Rochester, MN to Jon Finstad and Cynthia Witte. He graduated from Dover-Eyota High School in 2000 and went on to pursue studies at RCTC in Rochester where he met and eventually married Sudati Masasu. They later divorced but remained friends through the years.

Jason’s unique sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his stepmother, Peggy Finstad of Rochester, MN, four siblings, Samuel Foster of Austin, TX, Christie (Justin) Tlougan of Utica, MN, Pat (Melissa) Sutton of Zumbrota, MN, Jesse Sutton of Rochester, MN, his cousin Angie (Kevin) Smoot of Rochester, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held 3-7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Brother’s Bar and Grill in Rochester, MN. A private interment will take place at a later date.

    Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. I will be coming to Rochester for the celebration of life and hope to meet you.
    Jason will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him and spend time with him. I am sure he is up in heaven with his father, Jon, having a good time playing pranks on everyone.

  4. Jason was always the one to come make me feel comfortable at our enormous family functions. His humor and quick wit would always leave you smiling. I am very sorry to hear of his sudden passing. I know he is in heaven reuniting with his Dad and others of our family who have gone before him.
    I’m sorry I can’t be there for the memorial. Please know everyone is in my thoughts, sending tons of love.

  5. Jason has and will always hold a special place in our hearts for the excellent care he provided for Rob. He was the best direct support professional—he truly cared about his clients.

  7. My condolences to Jason’s family. I haven’t seen Jason since we graduated HS, but I will forever remember his sense of humor and ways to lighten the room. He was always so kind.
