Jack Alan Medved, born on January 17, 1963, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin walked the “Stairway To Heaven” on September 5, 2025, in Rochester, MN after a 1 ½ year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was the beloved son of Judith Fries and Gerald Medved and the loving husband of Donna Medved.
Jack was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by a “Whole Lotta Love,” compassion and faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
During his “Seasons In The Sun,” Jack attended and graduated from West Concord High School, which he often said were some of the best times of his life and where he met some of his closest lifetime friends. After school, Jack embarked on a successful career in the mortgage loan business. Jack’s passions involved music (he was Shazam before the Shazam app was ever heard of). He was a true “Magic Man” when it came to music knowledge. He also loved baseball and the Minnesota Twins; and took great pride in his role as “Pastor Jack,” marrying several family members and friends during his lifetime. He was most passionate about his family (his daughters were the apple of his eye), and his close friends, including Scott Glarner and Matt McKittrick – who were both by his side until the end.
Jack is survived by his mom and dad, Judith Fries and Jerry (Jody) Medved, his wife, Donna Medved, his daughters Madison Medved and Morgan (Dustin) Brinkman, his stepchildren Jenny (Casey) Hamborg, Jennie (Kyle) Kiefer and Ryan McNeilus. He was the outnumbered brother in a sea of sisters – Joy (Chad) Wolney, Robin (Todd) Fries Marquardt, and Joanna Jellison. Jack was the cherished grandfather of Amaya, Rylee and Esme. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins who shared in his joyful spirit. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Stella, Charles, Audrey and Joseph; stepfather, Bob; uncle, Rocco; and brother-in-law, Garrett.
A Celebration of Life to honor the life of Jack will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The family will receive friends from Noon – 3pm at LC Venue at 316 Broadway Avenue South in Rochester, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-jacks-journey-through-cancer
The funds raised will go towards the costs of the celebration of life and to support Jack’s family.
