Chris Childrey, 54, of Grand Meadow passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack Friday, June 30, 2023 while spending time at the lake.
Chris was the son of the late Robert “Bob” Childrey and Mari Childrey.
He was raised and attended school in Cottage Grove, MN. He worked as a truck driver.
In his 30’s Chris lost his sight. Losing his sight and the ability to drive truck left him lost and searching for purpose. He found that purpose when he met and married Katie Archer October 22, 2005.
That union brought a miracle preemie into their life. Mariah, whom was his entire world, as he was a stay-at-home dad. He excelled as a father and she changed his entire outlook on his life. His lack of sight never kept him from stepping up to the challenges of fatherhood, from warming a bottle or changing a diaper he found a way. Mariah became his world and purpose. He was her favorite playmate and best friend.
Chris is survived by his wife Katie, daughter Mariah. His mother Mari Childrey (Jim Kearney), his brother Robert Shannon (Julie), two nephews Nick and Matt, two nieces Melanie and Sarah, and many extended family and close friends.
A private family service will be held with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
