Carol Yvonne (Ackerman) Moreland, 88, died peacefully with family by her side at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Carol was born on May 4, 1935 to Lawrence and Arvilla (Werth) Ackerman in Pine Island, MN. She graduated from Pine Island Schools in 1953 and lived in the community her entire life. Carol married Richard E. Allen on May 29, 1955 in Pine Island, MN at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. He later died on October 31, 1993. She was a medical secretary for 2 years prior to Patty’s birth. She then stayed home to be a full time stay at home mom. Carol married Wesley F. Moreland on October 30, 1999 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island, MN.
Carol enjoyed gardening & flowers, and baking. She was known for her bread and apple pies. Her pies sold at Lion’s Club Fund raisers with the most expensive one being $95. She and both husbands loved to travel. She also loved playing cards, golfing, and bowling. She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Pine Haven Auxiliary, Girls Scouts, and Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer in many organizations including at the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Pine Island. She belonged to the church circle and helped serve many functions, etc. She also loved playing Bingo and going on bus trips to the casino with friends and family. She went to Las Vegas a few times with her daughters.
Carol is survived by her husband, Wesley F. Moreland; children, Patty (Scott) Maxson of Pine Island, Larry Allen of Pine Island, Terri Felmlee of Rochester, and Scott Allen (Rhonda Thesing) of St. James; stepchildren, Sarah (Matthew) Coward and Anne (Roger) Kahl; 14 grandchildren, Trista Schrage, Darren Maxson, Ashley (Zeb) Schutz, Shawna (John) Stussy, Scott Greenwood, Jodie Greenwood, Michael Allen (Aimee Wieck), Sarah Felmlee (Maurice Cain), and Matthew Felmlee (Storme Nierman), Daniel, Caty and Mindy Coward, Thomas Kahl, and Wyatt (Beth) Kahl; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Allen; son, David Allen; sister, Barbara Wegman; brother-in-law, Robert Wegman; sister-in-law, Betty Berg; brother-in-law, Palmer Berg; and son-in-law, Thomas Felmlee.

A memorial service will be at 11am at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 214 3rd St SW, Pine Island, MN on Saturday, May 4, 2024 with visitation from 9-11am prior to the service. Pastor Marie AK Anderson will be officiating. Burial following service at Pine Island Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Pine Haven, Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary, or Saint Paul Lutheran Church.
