Joan Carol Doty, age 94, of Stewartville, MN, passed away peacefully on May 16 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Joan was born to William and Marie Lehmann in January 1932 and grew up in St. Paul graduating from Wilson High School in 1949. She worked several summers at Camp Lakamaga on Big Marine lake, in the Montgomery Wards warehouse in St. Paul delivering items on roller skates, and in clerical positions in the Twin Cities at General Trading Co, KSTP, and Weyerhauser. Joan met Ed in 1955, they were married in St. Paul in March 1960, and they enjoyed over 65 years of marriage. They raised four children starting their family in the Twin Cities and moved to Stewartville in 1973.
Joan volunteered in the Stewartville school libraries for many years and later worked at Lake Center Industries/Triad Mfg in Rochester. Joan was devoted to spending time with and caring for her family with whom she shared her joys of reading, gardening, cooking, fishing, ice skating, skiing, music and art. She especially enjoyed spending time with and cherished her 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joan was always very loving and attentive to others’ needs before hers. She was very much loved and will be forever missed.
She is survived by children, Allen (Kathryn) Doty, Jean (Daniel) Krings, Richard (Anita) Doty, and Susan (James) Lofgren; grandchildren, Cale (Vanessa) Doty, Evan Doty, Matthew Krings, Emma Krings, Alexander Doty, Benjamin Doty, Christine Lofgren, and Amy Lofgren; great-grandchildren, Noah Doty and Stella Doty; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, her parents, and her sisters Lori, Pearl and Shirley. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Eyota in a private family service.
Celebration of Life will be Sunday August 30, 2026 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Willow Creek Golf Event Center, 1700 48th Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota.
