Victor Bittner

Victor Bittner, age 91, of Rochester, Minnesota, went to be with Jesus on June 6, 2026.

Victor was born on April 1, 1935, in Tecumseh, Nebraska, to Rev. Louis and Irma Bittner. He graduated from Stewartville High School in 1953. He continued his education at Luther College, then Concordia College and Seminary. He was married to Jacquie Hingeveld in 1959. They lost three children and adopted two, and were later divorced. He served as a minister in Powell, Wyoming, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, and Rochester, Minnesota. He married Ruth Ann Ruehmann in 1979. They then had twin sons. He drove school bus for over thirty years.

He loved studying God’s word, singing, and playing the autoharp, family gatherings, vacations, and fishing.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann; daughter Victoria Holder; son Jon (Lindsey); daughter-in-law Jenny Bittner; stepdaughter Michelle Ruehmann; daughter-in-law Bonnie Bittner; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul, David, Hillmar; sons Matt, Parke, Hans, Marcus; daughter Stephanie; and grandson Travis Holder.

A funeral service will be at 11am on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Rochester Assembly of God, 4240 18th Avenue NW, Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 10-11am before the service at the church. Pastor Tyler Grant will be officiating. Lunch will follow the service. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

    My condolences. I always had a soft spot in my heart for Vic. He was a great encourager to me over the years. I will always remember him as having the right word/scripture at the right time when he shared with the church body. I will also miss his unique strong radio voice! 🙂
