Matthew Ryan Fishel was born on April 18, 1981, in Sleepy Eye, MN, and passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2026, in Rochester, MN.
Matthew was a man who loved deeply and lived with a joyful spirit. He had a wonderful sense of humor and genuinely enjoyed making others laugh. His faith was important to him – Matthew loved Jesus, and one of his favorite books was The Shack, which reflected the hope and faith that meant so much to him.
He enjoyed attending Packers football games, golfing, going on vacations, and spending time with the people he loved most. Above all, Matthew cherished his family and the time they shared together.
Mattew worked in a variety of industries through his life and most recently served as Maintenance Manager at Jack Link’s in Minong, WI. He had been preparing to begin a new job in Rochester on March 16, 2026, and was looking forward to this new chapter.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Fishel, of Hayward, WI; his mother and stepfather, Wanita and Gerard Nosbush of Park Rapids, MN; his brothers, Lucas Fishel, and Louis Nosbush of Park Rapids, MN; and his sister, Samantha (Zach) Oelke of Pardeeville, WI. We also survived by his brother-in-law, Donald “Zippy” Gorka Jr.; his nephew, Jackson Oelke; his nieces, Evelyn Fishel and Alexis Oelke; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Butler of Mosinee, WI; and his grandparents, Mary and Dean Fishel of Storden, MN. He is survived further by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will remember him with love.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Joseph; his father, Brian Fishel; his father-in-law, Donald Gorka; his grandparents, Evelyn and William Weber; and his beloved uncles, Ken Bast, Tom Amber, Tim Brennan, Keith “Sam” Schutz, and Don Nowacki.
Matthew will be deeply missed by many, especially his wife, mother, brothers, and sister. His laughter, faith, and love for family will always be remembered
