Thomas David Nelson, age 75, died on Friday, May 22, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones after a 10 year illness with cancer.
He was born in Rochester, MN on July 5, 1944 to Orin and Ruth (Murray) Closner. He married Karen Marie Stiller on May 14, 1966 in Pine Island, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a sheet metal draftsman, county building inspector, and then started his own business Toms Home Improvement. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Cory (Amy) Nelson of Rochester, MN. Michelle (John) Powrie of Eyota, MN. and Tim Nelson of Rochester, MN.; siblings, Karen Budensiek and Jeanne Paquette; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Eddie Nelson and Jeff Closner.
There will be a private service held in the future.
