Frederick “Fred” Struckmann

Frederick Aaron Struckmann, age 55, received his wings on January 15, 2026 while surrounded by loved ones.

Fred was born the third son to Gary and Sandra Struckmann of Pine Island, MN. Fred fit in well with siblings, grew up enjoying many adventures, and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1989.

Fred was real. He did not mess around but got straight to the point so you always knew where you stood with him.

Fred was a doer.  He cared about the quality of the final project that he was a part of, whether it was autobody work, bartending, roofing, wiring, plumbing, construction, supervising window construction, carpentry, driving truck, wrenching on cars, and of course, helping friends get out of the ditch!

Fred enjoyed many things in his life. Vikings, fishing, hunting with his Dad and brothers, dogs (maybe even the cat but he would not say so!!) Fred also had an Airstream camper and enjoyed seasonal camping with Stacy for many years.

Fred loved deeply.  If you were on the receiving end of that love, you were the lucky one. We will miss his hugs!

Fred is survived by his lifelong love Stacy, mother Sandy, brothers Phil (Kathy) and Matt. Step-children Heather and Jake (Candace), 5 grandchildren, numerous nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles, and cousins.

Fred is preceded in death by paternal/maternal grandparents, father Gary, brother Dennis, sister Annette, friend Travis, and father-in-law Emory.

Thank you to City of Hope doctors, nurses, and all staff. Each and every one of you were so helpful each time Fred was there.  Thank you to St. Croix Hospice for understanding what was needed for his journey to be comfortable. Thank you to Rochester Cremation Services for being there.

Let’s celebrate Fred, his life, and our memories with him at the Douglas Saloon and Social Club on February 1, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 PM.  All are invited to welcome him home!

  1. We lost our step-dad a few days ago. The loss came in a short span, and it still feels weird and not real. Every single day we wake up, we feel that it was all a bad dream, probably because we couldn’t be right there with him and mom but we truly were in spirit. It takes us several minutes to come to terms with the fact that he is gone. He was the funniest, happiest, most talkative, and energetic person we knew. He was a smooth talker, with a bright-eyed willingness for life, a huge personality, and always looked more youthful because he was always a person who liked to tell jokes, and oh how he loved his Minnesota Vikings. He was really social and outgoing. But he was really sensitive at the end, he came to me on our last trip to see him and told me how much he was so thankful for mom, and all his kids and grandkids. He said he had a great run but he was so happy that he got so much done in the time he was given and made a great family who knew how much he loved them. Then he cracked a joke about mom almost taking them both out on the highway and that he would always have a pretty crazy looking head scarf! Well dad in your jokes and your smile we all truly know just how much you loved us all and we will never forget! I can not forget his laugh, Or his charming voice. We had a special bond that stated ok Jake and my wedding day and from there on out he was always so funny and supportive. My husband and our kids are truly lucky to have known him here on earth. Dad we will keep you are in our prayers at night always and your Lucca will blow you kisses to heaven every night for you and his two other grandpas. Keep count the kisses he sends because we will see you again this isn’t the end. Love u with all our hearts always and forever. Xoxo

  2. We are so sorry to be unable to be there for Fred. He was indeed a remarkable man. He always made you feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Always thinking of others! In the days after losing my brother, he was like the light in the tunnel. He definitely will be missed by all. We will never forget how much he his words helped us with our grief. We send our love to Stacy and hemm
    their family.
