Eldon James Swenson, age 70, of Plainview, Minnesota, formerly of Rochester, passed away on December 2, 2025.
Eldon was a hardworking and determined man, known for his stubborn streak, quick humor, and big heart. He proudly served four years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, and carried a deep pride in his service throughout his life.
He had a lifelong passion for cars, spending most of his career in auto body work—doing what he loved every single day. Eldon enjoyed attending car shows, especially making his favorite stop at the Eagles Club, where he could admire the classics, swap stories, and connect with fellow car enthusiasts. He also loved cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and Twins and going fishing whenever he had the chance.
Eldon was born to Otis Henry Swenson and Mary M. (Parker) Swenson. He was one of several children and is lovingly remembered alongside his siblings: Roland, Jeffrey, Gregory, Jerry, Sandra, and Lorraine.
Eldon was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rhonda Ward, whose passing ten months ago brought him deep grief. He missed her profoundly and carried her memory with him every day. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother Roland; and his sisters Sandra and Lorraine.
He is survived by his two daughters, Alicia (Chad) Ziebell and Chassidy (Christina) Swenson; and his grandchildren Zoey, Chase, Payton, Grace, Jessiah, and Jo Jo, all of whom he adored deeply.
Eldon will be remembered for his strength, humor, love for his family, and the stories he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 12, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the Rochester Eagles Club, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor Eldon’s memory in a place he enjoyed so much.
