Steven W. “Steve” Postier, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, November 29, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born on October 10, 1953, to Vivian and Vernon Postier, Steve worked many years as a bricklayer for various masonry companies in Minnesota, Iowa, Texas, and Florida. He married Kris Abelson and they later divorced. In mid-life, Steve proudly earned a four-year degree from Rochester Community and Technical College and Concordia University.
Steve was an avid fisherman, and a good-natured soul who enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard. He brought a gentle presence and warm sense of humor to all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Farrell and Dennis; and many beloved friends and pets. He is survived by his daughters, Monica Hilton, LeAnn Postier, and Natalie Postier; his brother, Marlo (Dawn) Postier of Racine, MN; and his sister, Sheila (Bob) Coe of Rochester. He is also survived by his best friend and partner of 34 years, Deb Hines, and their dog, Fritz; as well as Deb’s daughter, Katie (Kyle) Gaffaney, and grandsons, Harry and Charlie. Steve and Deb shared a love of music, especially concerts and live venues, and enjoyed regular trips to Mystic Lake and Treasure Island casinos.
The family extends special thanks to St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate support in Steve’s final days.
Graveside service to be held on Friday, December 12, 1:00 p.m, at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
