Terry Briggs

Terry Gail Briggs, 79, of Austin, MN died on November 11, 2025 in Austin.

She was born on June 5, 1946 to Fernly and Marion Josephson.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Joy (Marilyn) Ochs and Sharon Klitzke.

She is survived by her husband, Gordy; her children, Heidi Skorin (Yurii), Tony Briggs (Andrea), Alicia Ausmus (Jason), Troy Askelson (Terri) and Peekay Briggs (Paige); her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Terry and Gordy were happily married for 43 years and were not only a married couple but best friends.

Terry enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She loved when the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren came home for Christmas over the years because it’s the time together as a family that brought her joy.  She was an amazing woman who loved her family, created beautiful quilts, and delicious food that centered around family traditions. Over the years she spent many weekends camping. More recently, she enjoyed spending time at the ladies prayer shawl group.

Terry will be terribly missed as a wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, and friend. If anyone heard her giggle, they know it to be a joyous sound and that she may be holding a winning hand during a card game.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15 from 11:00 – 1:00 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin.

Memories and condolences of Terry may be shared at rochestercremationservicesmn.com

  1. We, “sisters” spent many a long weekend playing cards, swapping stories of our kids and grandkids and shopping til we dropped, on our annual get togethers known to us as “Sisters Weekend”. We did this annual get together for over 30 years-will miss our “adopted sister” Terry.

  2. I grew up with Terry. She was an amazing lady. She had contagious laugh & smile. So many memories with her when we grew up. She was so proud of her kids, grandchildren,& Gordy. Harry & I moved to Sioux Falls so didn’t get together a lot. We both were busy with our families. I will treasure the memories we made. Alot of giggles! Gordy she is at peace now. An amazing friend. We were Godparents to Heidi . Prayers to all of the family.
