Rosann Suckow

Obituary for Rosann Ellen Suckow  (December 13, 1943 – November 2nd, 2024)

Rosann Ellen Suckow (nee Miles, formerly Salchow), age 80, of Stewartville, MN, went to be with our Heavenly Father Nov 2, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald Waldeen and Clara Blanch Miles  (nee Hornicek) of Chappell, NE.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Virgil Suckow;  brother, Marvin Miles (Catherine); children Andrea Miles nee Salchow (Mike)  and Kenneth Joe Salchow, Jr. (Deb); her step-children Janene Davis (John) and Jereme Suckow (Paige); 14 grandchildren; and, 12 great-grandchildren.

Born in Nebraska, Rosann moved to the east coast with her first husband where she gave birth to her two children.  After attending secretarial school, she worked as a secretary, eventually taking a job with IBM which brought her to Rochester, MN in the early 1970’s.  She continued to work for IBM, supporting numerous, international management until retirement.

Rosann was a musical and creative creature.   She taught piano for many years, continuing to play piano/organ and sing throughout her life, including in her church both in MN as well as TX.  Given that her father was once a well-known square dance caller, it is no surprise she had a life-long love of dance, including square-dancing and line dancing.  Being the daughter of a seamstress, Rosann also had a talent for sewing, making many/most of the outfits she wore for square/country dancing, as well as clothes for her children in their early years. Virgil and Rosann also taught country/line dance lessons in Rochester, MN to hundreds of people.

Rosann loved Elvis, John Wayne, James Bond, camping, travel, playing the piano/organ, sewing/quilting, playing any kind of games, spending winters in Texas, and NASCAR; but, most of all she loved her family, her friends, her many furry companions, and her Savior.

Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 66632 S 300th St., Dexter, MN. where Virgil and Rosann have attended for years, on November 9th at 11:00am.  You may come at 10am and pay your respects. Lunch will be served afterwards with her favorite music playing. You can count on some dancing to celebrate her life too.

  2. I met and became friends with Roseann in Texas. I wanted a jacket everyone was making from sweat shirts. I asked her if she would sew mine and she said no, but I will show you what to do and let me use her machine to do it. She was always willing to help you whatever your project was. As our song leader in church she was was always at the door on Sunday morning to welcome us with s smile and a hug. It just won’t be the same without her at Sunlight. Virgil and her family are in our prayers.
