Barbara “Jeanie” Theuner

Barbara “Jeanie” Theuner, 86, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Barbara was born on November 8, 1937 to Ernest “Ernie” and Mary (Waby) Nickelsen in Beaver near Winona, MN. She was one of ten children and spent her early years on the home farm in Whitewater Valley along highway 74 and in Weaver, MN. During her elementary school years she lived on a farm near Eyota and Elgin, MN. Then her family moved into Elgin her senior year of high school and she graduated from Elgin High School in 1955. Jeanie married Ralph Theuner on January 12, 1957. They lived in Rochester for 25 years. Jeanie worked at Telex and Waters Instruments in Rochester. Then they moved to Kellogg and she worked for 18 years at TRW in Winona. They had five children: Steven, Jeff, Sandy, Mark, Rick.

Jeanie enjoyed growing flowers, playing cards, playing bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jeanie is survived by her children, Jeff (Santana), Sandy, and Mark (Kelly); brother, Jim (Barb) Nickelsen; sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Peggy Nickelsen; brother-in-law, Allyn Wachholz; 5 grandchildren, Bonnie, Craig, Kyle, Pressley, and Tyler (Ashley); 8 great grandchildren, Shannon (Nemo), Brittany, Bailey, Kaylee, Colton, Zana, Mason, and Jaxson; 3 great great grandchildren, Pedro, Viviana, and Sadie; and special niece, Earlene (Barry) Simonson along with many nieces and nephews.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Mary; husband, Ralph; infant son, Steven; son, Rick; siblings, Iola (Earl) Stephans, Rosemary Nickelsen, Marj (Eugene) Lamey, Sharon “Kay” Wachholz, Wallace (Esther) Nickelsen, Charles (LaVerne) Nickelsen, Clarence Nickelsen, and Lavern Nickelsen.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be donated to Eagles Cancer Telethon.

A celebration of life will be from 10am to 1pm at Rochester Cremation Services, 1605 Civic Center Drive NW, Rochester on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Lunch will be served. Burial will be at 11am in St Marys Catholic Cemetery, Minneiska, MN on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
