Donald Cavey

Donald Lee Cavey (90) died Tuesday, February 27th peacefully with family at his side. He had been in long-term care at Spring Valley Living, and a patient of Heartland Hospice. Donald was born in 1933 to Lucille and Edward Cavey in Davenport Iowa. He grew up in Toronto Iowa and joined the Navy in 1952, where he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii at the end of the Korean War. There he met his first wife, Charlotte McDonald, a Navy Wave also stationed at the base in Honolulu. After discharge, they moved to Clinton, IA where they raised seven children. Donald worked as a Milkman for the local dairy and they later moved to Iowa City, where he was the manager of Sanitary Farm Dairies.  The couple moved their family up to Rochester, MN where Donald worked in sales for Clements Chevrolet, Laurson Mobile Homes and retired from Rochester Mobile Homes. He was also the Manager of Hallmark Terrace Mobile Home park. Charlotte and Don divorced and in 1971 he married Joyce Wolfgram (Prescher). She died in 2009.

Donald is survived by his children Ed (Glennys) Cavey of Needville, TX., Cathy Nierman of Rochester, Deb (Bob) Dinehart of Stewartville, Lynda Hain of Rockport, TX, Becky (Terry) Vlach of Rochester and Ron (Jennifer) Cavey of Toledo, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren, sister Betty, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and David, sister-in-law Jeanene, brother-in-law and daughter Teresa Cavey.

The family plans a Veterans Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any veteran related charity of your choice in his honor.
