Ed Jackson, age 85, of Spring Valley passed away peacefully at Stewartville Care Center on December 15th, 2023.
Edward Lee Jackson was born March 24, 1938 in Maroa, IL to Leonard Thomas Jackson and Edna Gertrude (Goff) Jackson. He grew up in IL and moved to MN in 1956 after graduating from Anawan High School. On September 15, 1962 he was married to Helen Jane Frost in Princeton, MN. They made their home in St Paul, MN. Ed graduated from the University of MN in 1964. Ed made his living most of his life as a freelance writer and editor, along with working the family farm. Ed had a love of singing. He sang in the church choir for many years and developed a great fondness for Barbershop quartet singing and was known for his deep bass voice. Ed was also known for his great intelligence, witty sense of humor, love of family and for being the kindest man you could ever hope to meet.
His parents, brothers Arvin and Richard preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Rebecca Jackson and Colleen Fairchild, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, December 30th at Fillmore Free Methodist Church in Wykoff MN. Visitation will be at noon, service at 1:00pm followed by lunch.
